Tax Refunds

A tax refund refers to the return, by the tax authorities, of taxes and withholdings that the taxpayer has paid or suffered in excess of what was due, or of any credit that has been established in their favor following the filing of a tax return.

In the event of a tax credit , if it is not possible to offset it with other taxes or contributions, there are essentially two options:

  • wait for the official refund, which is provided for credits resulting from material errors attributable to the tax authority itself and for those resulting from tax returns;
  • submit a reimbursement request in all other cases and if the official one does not "function" correctly.

The timing and methods for submitting a refund request vary depending on the case.
